MADEMOISELLE PRIVÉ : CHANEL EXHIBITION IN LONDON

What will be the first come out brand in your mind when people are discussing about fashion?
Undoubtedly, Chanel would be one of your answers.
Chanel is a representative and leading brand of fashion industry.
This year Chanel brought their collections to us in London.
'A journey through the origins of CHANEL's creations capturing the charismatic personality and irreverent spirit of Mademoiselle Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld.'
The exhibition includes three main parts of this renowned brand which are Haute Couture, fragrance NO. 5 and jewellery collection designed by Coco Chanel in 1932-.

The followings are two parts of the exhibition which impressed me a lot.
This space was related to Haute Couture.

There are many kind of textures of fabrics which are divided into two colour, black and white, the iconic colour of the brand.
The visitors could touch the fabrics directly to know what the exact textures they are.

Besides, between these fabrics, there are some silhouette animations to present the process of making couture. This kind of presenting would be considered as simple, elegant and also effective for me.

The other part is about the well-known perfume CHANEL NO. 5.The description of the perfume is quite good, however, the way of showing the perfume attracted me more.In this space, everything is quit big such as the sample of the producing machines and the description on the wall.

On the contrary, the exhibit of the perfume is quite small instead of a normal size. From my perspective, there are two possibilities of this display.
First of all, the process of making perfume has to be emphasised in this exhibition.
In other words, the main role in this space is the process rather than the perfume itself.
Secondly, to show how precious the perfume is.
That is to say, although the process is complicated and the machines are big, the productivity is quite few which could show not only the preciousness of the perfume, but the quality over quantity.

What's more?
In my opinion, the climax of this exhibition is in this space undoubtedly.

The legends of fashion industry from the past to present,

Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld cooperated beyond time and space.

The jewels is designed by Coco and  the couture is designed by Karl.

Moreover, there are many photos which are the celebrities wore the jewels and in the clothes and those pictures were taken by Karl himself.

"... as a photographer, there's a such naturalism. Once he see something, it could be done in five minutes and you don's even realise that you just finished entire thing because he just know sort of exactly what he want." - Kristen Stewart said in the interview of shooting for the exhibition.

In
Karl Lagerfeld, A Visual Journey, he mentioned that he doesn't have a specific style of his photography, he just shoots for capturing transient moment which he wants, he needs and he would like to see.

Actually, it won't take too much time when you know what exactly you want.

He knows the jewellery and the couture, thus, he just has to know how to express well those works  while they were wearing by the celebrities
and to show the spirit of the brand in the photography.
