GOOD DESIGNS AND BAD DESIGNS

For Dieter Rams, good design have to have these principles, innovative, useful, aesthetic, understandable, unobtrusive, honest, long-lasting, accurate, environmentally-friendly and simple.

However, these principles may not be everyone's principles. Besides, even for one of these principles, aesthetic will get many different definitions from people.
Thus, to define the good design and bad design is subjective.
The following are some examples which I defined them as good designs and as bad designs and the reasons that I divided them to the groups.

GOOD DESIGNS

Body Fit Cushion (MUJI)
The cushion is a multi-functional product which could be sat and lain and moved to every corner or place easily.
Besides, the design is very simple with one colour, therefore, it also can be a decoration in the living room or bedroom.

Hanger behind the seat in plane
The aim of every airline company is to provide a comfortable journey to every passenger. This design of the hanger could show how they care the passengers and concern about their needs.

Safety ruler
There is an usual situation while people is cutting papers by hands, that is, the cutter slip out and the fingers get hurt.
Therefore, here is an quite great design for those people who had been the victims.
The functions of the safety ruler are not only a more fixed ruler, but also a knife blade and fingers protector because it is thicker than standard ruler and a obstacle between knife and fingers.

BAD DESIGNS

Typographic design of Juicy Couture logo
The brand of Juicy Couture could be found on many high streets.
However, the typography of the logo always makes me confuse.
If I do not know what it is selling in advanced, I will predict that it must sell furniture or barbie dolls to noble or royal families.
Personally, I cannot image that the words will be printed on my clothes, no matter what the age that I am.

Wallet case cover
The prime aim of every phone case is to prevent mobile phone to get scars.
However, this kind of case has another function such as wallet which seems like put the phones in the more risk situation.
The screen of the phone will rub against the cards all the time.
Besides, when the user wants to take out the card, the phone has to be taken out together, therefore, the rates of getting scars will increase. It just like put the cart before the horse.

Poster
For me, the most attractive poster has to display an clear layout and only one main point. Thus, I won't get lost from the information that it presented.
However, the poster above has quite clear information but the layout and design are complicated.
I cannot easily find where is the theme of the poster and I do not know where I should focus at first sight. It cannot get audiences' interests and give them a brief information.
